DUPONT PERFORMANCE ELASTOMERS ANNOUNCES PRICE INCREASE
FOR VITON® FLUOROELASTOMERS
WILMINGTON, Del., June 18, 2008 -- DuPont Performance Elastomers recently announced a global price increase of 10 percent on Viton® fluoroelastomers and chemicals; this increase will be effective in China on July 15.
DuPont Performance Elastomers stated that this action is required due to the continued increases in raw materials, energy, and distribution costs. "In the past, DuPont Performance Elastomers has offset increased material costs with manufacturing efficiencies,” said Nils Gustavsson, global marketing and commercial director – V Solutions. “Today, our continuing efforts are not enough to absorb the escalating energy and raw material costs in manufacturing Viton® fluoroelastomers. In order to remain an innovative, long-term supplier, we must implement this price increase for Viton® fluoroelastomers and chemicals.”
Viton® fluoroelastomers are well known for their excellent thermal resistance (with intermittent exposure up to 285°C), their resistance to aggressive fuels and chemicals, and offer numerous advantages over NBR, ACM, and HNBR. Since their introduction over 50 years ago, Viton® fluoroelastomers have evolved into many different types in direct response to the ever-changing requirements for sealing and containment of more aggressive fluids in automotive, chemical, petrochemical, pharmaceutical and food processing industries. Recent introductions feature improved processing and end-use performance.
