For fast installation:
Trespa TS2000 provides superior interior cladding solution

Trespa International has introduced TS2000 - a fixing system developed by Trespa International B.V., containing a patented clip for interior wall cladding applications with a range of installation and application benefits. Key benefits are ease and speed of installation.

The TS2000 system has been applied successfully in a range of key applications where the system is able to meet fire and sound requirements to the full, when used in combination with Trespa Virtuon panels and a range of specific joint solutions, as well as the highest hygiene and cleaning standards.

Trespa Virtuon panels for interior wall cladding are already used extensively in highly demanding interior applications such as healthcare facilities. Trespa Virtuon panels have a smooth, non-porous surface and core which is impact and scratch resistant. Seamless installation is key, especially in healthcare environments or clean room areas, as seams provide potential hiding places for bacteria. For effective use of TS2000 in these types of applications, Trespa International advises installers to use 3M VHB tape. This provides a secure seal for Trespa panel constructions, only requiring one expansion joint every 6 m.

To ensure a smooth finish, a special TrespaCord or a sealant approved for use in healthcare environments may be applied. Both products have been approved for use in Operating Rooms and Cleanrooms.

Speed of installation

The Trespa TS2000 system is based on existing wall fixing systems, using specially designed aluminium profiles. Using Textron Rev-Screws, Trespa panels are fitted with a specially designed Z-profile. These profiles fit into patented clips, mounted on C-profiles or a metal-stud wall system. The result is an invisible mounting system, which can be installed in a short time, with minimum on-site activity.

The TS2000 fixing system meets the European standards for safety regulations and will not release any toxic substances or fumes. TS2000 wall cladding systems have been subjected to fire tests. Two separate wall constructions were subjected to regulatory fire tests and were certified for 30 and 60 minutes.

Sound isolation tests proved successful too – three separate TS2000 types of construction yielded results of up to 64 dB.

Finally, TS2000 constructions, using Trespa Virtuon, can be installed dry in a minimum of time - with little or no dust being released, thus reducing the risk of release of airborne particles capable of transporting micro-organisms . Once installed, changes or relining walls can be achieved with minimum dust and or disposal issues.

Projects realized

Trespa Application Manager Kees Weurman points to a number of key reference projects that highlight the value of the TS2000 system: it has already been used successfully for a number projects including:

• 8 operating rooms and 8 recovery rooms in Ettelbrück, Luxemburg

• 8 operating rooms in Gent, Belgium

• Zuidertoren office renovation, Brussels

• Leeghwaterbad swimming pool in Purmerend, the Netherlands

• Moscow Airport

The TS2000 system ideally fits large wall lining projects and the above mentioned installations range between 3000 m2 and 15000 m2 of Trespa wall lining. All these projects were realised using TS2000 invisible fixing. The system was used to cover both separation walls and load-bearing walls. Especially for separation walls, the entire frame is only 10.8 cm wide, including the panels. Easy fixing reduces installation time and the system’s light weight helps to reduce the overall weight that needs to be supported.

TS 2000 in practice

In the Leeghwaterbad swimming pool in Purmerend, the Netherlands, Trespa Virtuon was used for wall lining with the Trespa TS-2000 system. Trespa Virtuon was also used for sanitary cubicles and lockers, without TS-2000. The total building houses a multi-functional swimming centre, including a pool for competitions, a teaching pool and a recreational pool with play facilities.

A 15 metre glass wall offers wonderful views of the pool below the surface. The building was designed by architect Artsje Hylkema of architectural firm Cepezed in Delft. Key in the design was light and transparency. All closed inner walls are covered with Trespa Virtuon – up to a height of at least 2.70 metres and for some walls up to roof level. This includes the toilets and changing rooms.

Artsje Hylkema: “Hygiene and durability were highly important considerations and the preferred approach was to install prefabricated and dry. Panels could be prepared off-site and installed quickly and efficiently on location. This keeps the building site clear and saves money into the bargain.

“We chose Trespa Virtuon, which has a proven fit in sports and leisure environments: hygienic, easy to clean and durable. Using the Trespa TS 2000 proprietary fixing method means that all surfaces are smooth. Some panels are perforated and are fitted with sound absorbing material.

Using two types of finish – satin and silk – we decided to use the colour white. This light, neutral colour provides a neutral background, placing the emphasis on swimmers and their often brightly coloured outfits.”

Cost effective

According to the installer, Jaap van Bruggen of Bimmerman Projectafbouw in Wervershoof, installation was cost effective, when compared to tiled walls, especially for larger surfaces. “Thanks to the use of the Trespa TS 2000 system, we were able to save time compared to other methods such as glue fixing. However, precision and preparation are essential. A good installer is able to place the panels quickly and neatly. And the final result is simply perfect.”

Jaap van Bruggen adds: “The building is breathtaking: it is very special and totally enhances the building’s open atmosphere. Moreover, the wall lining panels can be moved easily when new equipment needs to be installed, or existing building infrastructure needs to change.”
