Broadening Perspectives:
Trespa introduces new Colour concept
Trespa International’s new Colour concept is designed to show architects and designers how to create even more imaginative and aesthetically different façades using Trespa Meteon panels. This follows similar concepts for Light and Curved Elements launched earlier this year under Trespa's source of inspiration called Perspectives.
Trespa International is a leading manufacturer of high quality architectural panels for cladding and other exterior applications. Architects are always interested in new design ideas about how to use the panel in different ways to create more imaginative and aesthetically unusual facades. Trespa continually inspires by regularly presenting them with a range of ideas called Perspectives. Earlier this year, this included a new concept relating to the use of Light and another to Curved elements. A third concept has now been introduced relating to Colour.
A new source of Colour
The Trespa Colour concept is based on the launch of a coordinated range of colours, comprising new colours and existing ones. These are presented in a inspiring format which gives designers the very widest choice and make it easy for them to select and combine colours to give buildings a new look.
Trespa now offers one of the most exciting and stimulating range of cladding colours on the market, ranging from vivid and strong to light and dark, together with a wide variety of textures and other surface treatments. In addition, custom made colours can be specified for specific projects and are available to order.
The new Meteon colour design tool is of particular interest to architects. It provides them with a comprehensive colour reference to all the options. It is helps them understand and appreciate the world of Trespa panels and shows how colour can be used to create unique and stunning building facades. These ideas can be explored and tested using samples, special colourcards and other tools. Full technical data is also included.
Colour in practice
The spectacular Torres Centro project in Oviedo, northern Spain, is a very good example of how colour can be used to create dramatic architecture. This project, comprising 11 tower blocks lining two of the main streets, was designed by architects Salvador Perez Arroyo and Luis V. de Gonzaga. Here, the architects specified 17,000sqm of Meteon panels, with each tower designed with a combination of three colours. Together, the towers create a stunning townscape enhanced by the colours, metallic effects and textures of the cladding which constantly change in appearance through the day because of sunlight, shadows and variations in weather.
Examples of how other architects have been inspired by the Perspectives concept can be seen on the Trespa website by clicking on Projects. This shows how coloured Meteon has been specified for many other exciting and well-designed buildings.
The Trespa Meteon panel
The Meteon panel is based on thermosetting resins, homogeneously reinforced with 70% wood fibres and manufactured under high pressure and high temperature. This results in a panel which is very tough and durable, with stability and workability similar to hardwood, and which provides giving exceptional performance in terms of resistance to weather, impact and damage. The panels are colourfast and will not fade, while the smooth non-porous surface will retain its appearance and its physical performance for years.
