Flow Simulation Center helps predict part performance

Husky service includes detailed filling analysis to reduce unnecessary costs for molders

DUSSELDORF - Husky has officially launched its Flow Simulation Center to offer plastics processors detailed filling analysis and help reduce unnecessary costs.

“Our goal is to help our customers produce better quality parts, reduce costs and get their parts to market faster,” says Ludwig Balmer, Product Manager for Husky’s Flow Simulation Center in Dudelange, Luxembourg.

Working closely with injection molders, the FSC team looks at wall thickness, number of gates, gate location and size, as well as pressure levels to avoid short shots and hesitation effects. Other FSC services include part design consulting, which evaluates and analyzes part geometry, resin applications, and tool design.

One of the many customers currently working with Husky’s FSC is Società Costruzioni Stampi, a leading Italian mold maker. SCS specializes in the design and manufacture of complex, multi-cavity molds for packaging, household storage, garden furniture, auto parts, toys and circular containers for customers around the world.

“Husky’s Flow Simulation Center allows us to predict performance up-front and enhance our part and mold designs,” says Luca Mencarelli, of SCS. “Their detailed filling analysis addresses issues such as filling imbalance and hesitation effects. Husky also helps us optimize wall thickness, gate size and location, and pressure levels.”

The result is tooling that achieves consistent production across all cavities with each shot, at the same time reducing maintenance, increasing productivity and ensuring part quality, adds Mencarelli.
