QUADRANT ENGINEERING PLASTIC PRODUCTS’ ENGINEERING THERMOPLASTIC LENDS A LITTLE MUSCLE TO BOWFLEX POWER ROD® TECHNOLOGY

TIELT, BELGIUM – K 2004 – Body builders, like engineers, desire maximum performance for the lowest cost. The Bowflex Ultimate and Extreme™ 2 models, among the best selling home gym equipment in the U.S., delivers a cost/performance ratio that both engineers and home fitness enthusiasts can appreciate. Nautilus, the machines’ manufacturer, delivered the goods with help from Quadrant Engineering Plastic Products (QEPP), who provided engineering thermoplastics and design expertise for the equipment’s development.

Bowflex equipment provides a total body workout to users, who use it to tone and build isolated muscle groups. It operates via a series of Power Rods® that increase counter-resistance in proportion to the force that users apply. The resistant force behind these power rods derives in part from the performance qualities of engineering thermoplastics produced by QEPP.

The thermoplastic materials needed to provide excellent tensile strength and wear-resistance to withstand repeated use.

Quadrant partnered closely with engineers at Nautilus to develop the material technology and to supply Power Rods in a way that continues to provide the manufacturer with the greatest production flexibility. The work helped to solidify leadership positions for both companies within their respective markets.
