QUADRANT CMS MANAGEMENT SOFTWARE STREAMLINES PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT PROCESS

TIELT, BELGIUM – October 2004 – Leader in manufactured plastics components and sub-assemblies, Quadrant Creative Moulding & Systems (CMS) has taken a lead in applying a high-tech approach to product development by integrating a unique online management tool to model, track and smooth every aspects of moulding production.

Quadrant calls its new management tool, CoProLoS, after the four basic components that it manages: Commercial, Production, Logistic and Systems. Internally developed in approximately 18 months, CoProLoS went online in October 2003.

Most moulders today do not apply software management tools, or else they rely on commercial products that do not align well with plastics moulding operations. Quadrant CMS developed CoProLoS to maximize efficiency by enabling each individual involved in a project to track every single aspect of the project.

CoProLoS unifies the development team’s efforts from initial strategy to development of parts, mould design and manufacturing, material selection and supply, prototyping and parts production as well as delivery and invoicing. The software can also encompass additional product development stages, such as automated or manual assembly, printing, coating and painting operations when necessary. CoProLoS essentially provides real-time, secure, online access to information, and more importantly, the analytical tools for visualizing and comparing data.

Quadrant CMS customers benefit from this management tool through more accurate quotes, quotes in their own format, APQP Projectmanagement, integrated quality management and product traceability down to the raw material.

“CoProLoS signifies Quadrant CMS’s continuing commitment to lead the industry in both moulding technology and process innovation,” said Fernand Vandaele, Managing Director, Quadrant CMS. “This software system represents the next step in integrated solutions for our product development and fulfillment processes.”

Customers begin to see the benefits of the CoProLoS tool during the quotation process, when the software details each element of a quote, including materials, tools, cycle times, secondaries, assembly and purchased parts. The software also makes clear what the quote does not include, along with the tolerances, clearances, production parts approval process, and failure modes & effects analysis on which the quote is based.

Once a project is underway CoProLoS automatically provides updates and reminders to all project team members and reports to customers at key steps of the project. Authorized viewers can scan a project to see if it is on schedule or, if it is not, then what the source of the delay is.

Among its other benefits, CoProLoS enables quick integration of customer orders beginning with the raw material, rapid processing of call offs, global visualization of customer stocks and detailed tracking of tool status.

“COPROLOS software not only benefits individual customers, it also incorporates a layer of coherence and intelligence to all Quadrant CMS moulding operations, Vandaele said. “It allows us to focus more attention on the big picture and plan proactively rather than respond to the day-to-day challenges of individual projects.”
