Trespa International and Maica Laminates
Production of Trespa panels in Malaysia
Trespa International, global producer of architectural panels for interior and exterior use, and Maica Laminates, Malaysia’s leading manufacturer of decorative high pressure laminates (HPL), have signed an agreement for the manufacture and distribution of Trespa HPL thin products and HPL compact panels.
Under the terms of the agreement, details of which were not disclosed, Maica Laminates will use the same raw materials and proprietary technology as Trespa to produce HPL-products. These products will be marketed in the Asia Pacific region under the Trespa brand name and meet the same high performance standards as those currently produced in The Netherlands.
Furthermore, Maica Laminates will be the exclusive distributor in the Malaysian market for all Trespa panels produced in Malaysia and The Netherlands.
The agreement represents a significant expansion in production facilities for Trespa panels, which are used extensively throughout the Asia Pacific region for highly visible architectural exterior applications.
Key reason for the expansion of production facilities is the continued growth in sales in the region.
Signing the agreement on behalf of Trespa International, Chief Executive Officer Frank Bronswijk said: “Recently we have been looking for production facilities, additional to those we already have. Our production processes require significant investments in production resources and personnel – and take several years to be completed. By teaming up with a partner who has the right facilities, a proven track record in and clear understanding of the product and its markets, we will be able to meet growing demand from our customers faster and more effectively.”
Speaking on behalf of Maica Laminates, Kia Kee Lim said: “We see many opportunities for growth, both in the Malaysian market and throughout the Asia Pacific region. By combining our resources, we will be able to provide customers with the best possible products, ‘made in Malaysia’.”
He added: “Trespa materials are manufactured under stringent quality control – and we will ensure that our output will meet the same standards, both in terms of its performance and quality.”
High quality Trespa panels are used in façade cladding applications, for interior applications in public buildings, transport terminals and for the production of furniture, among others. Their key functional aspects include durability, impact strength and resistance to damp, chemicals and UV-radiation. Following the introduction of innovative colours, finishes and patterns, Trespa panels are increasingly being applied for their enhanced design possibilities.
