Tribusa Apartment Block Barcelona

This is a stunning example of how to design and build an apartment block in a restricted space and to give it an exceptional appearance by using Trespa Meteon cladding.

Tribusa, a Spanish building developer, has completed a new apartment block in Barcelona. The building, occupying a tight urban site, is a particularly interesting example of how to use brightly coloured Trespa Meteon cladding panels for a smaller residential project.

The facade of the 3-storey apartments is clad with 206 sqm of Trespa Meteon. The drama of the building results from the architect’s stunning colour combination of different Meteon panels in deep purple and blue. Depth and interest are added by recessing some of the panels to counter-balance small projecting balconies. The result is a bright jewel that sparkles in an otherwise plain urban environment.

Architect Carles Francesch de Herralde specified the panels for their well-proven long life performance and because they retain their appearance over many years. Another important consideration was the fact that they are largely self-cleansing which means maintenance and manual cleaning can be minimised in the restricted street.

Trespa Meteon

Trespa Meteon architectural panels are available in an extensive range of different colours, effects and finishes or in specials. The sustainable-friendly panels are based on thermosetting resin, reinforced with 70% wood fibres and manufactured under high pressure and high temperature to create cladding which is very tough and durable, with stability and workability similar to hardwood. The smooth non-porous surface will retain its physical performance, colour and appearance for many years. The high impact resistance of the panel means that it cannot easily be damaged, scratched or abused and, being largely self-cleansing, it is very easily maintained.

To inspire architects who are using Meteon for building facades, Trespa offers Perspectives (http://perspectives.trespa.com). This presents them with new ideas based on Depth (such as curved elements to create new dimensions and dynamics), Rhythm (which explores combinations of different colours) and Character (which examines the use of lighting to alter facades, emphasise shapes and change appearance).
