QUADRANT KEY TO AIR SPRINGS FOR THE AUTOMOTIVE INDUSTRY

Illustrating this capability is the air suspension, which Gates Aachen developed for the new BMW 5 Touring in close cooperation with QCMS. Quadrant provided a solution for the rear axle piston – one of the pneumatic suspension’s key components.

As Quadrant provides multiple solutions for customers, Quadrant’s NYRIM production technology was selected for an air suspension system for trucks. Compared to the production volumes of the BMW 5 Touring, trucks are made in much smaller quantities. In order to provide the customer the most economical solution NYRIM was selected. The lower tool investment needed for NYRIM products justified the slightly higher product price achieved. NYRIM also offers high load capabilities combined with high fatigue resistance and the possibilities to cast-in steel parts for easy assembling.

Drawing on its established automotive expertise and manufacturing resources, Quadrant developed a solution that met the part’s high standards of mechanical load-bearing capacity and provided it at a very attractive price/performance ratio.

Quadrant’s extreme high-performance engineering plastics offer significant advantages compared with metals for many applications, such as lower weight, greater freedom of design, shorter manufacturing times and chemical resistance.

Quadrant focuses further on its product line of air suspension systems together with major first-tier suppliers to the automotive industry.
